The Falke history: quality since 1895

The Falke success story began in 1895, when the roofer Franz Falke-Rohen, who worked as a seasonal knitter during the cold winter months, founded his own knitting factory. In 1902, his eldest son Franz took over the knitting factory. With the purchase of the wool and hair yarn spinning mill of Carl Meisenburg in Schmallenberg, the company finally laid the foundation for the development of today's group of companies. Two years later, a new factory was built there, on the site of which the headquarters of the Falke group are still located today. Within the next few years, Falke was on an expansion course: the small craft business had become a stately industrial enterprise with 800 employees – a remarkable life's work of Franz Falke Senior, who died in 1828. It was not until 1946 that the well-known Falke trademark was designed: a white falcon with lettering on a red background. In the 1950s, Falke's corporate strategy was determined by a consistent brand policy and the development of export markets in Europe and overseas. In the 1960s and 70s, Falke expanded its product range to include women's and men's knitwear, with international locations in Portugal, Hungary, Austria, and South Africa. In 1976, Falke was finally awarded the German Marketing Prize. The first flagship store in Cologne, shop-in-shop systems in Germany, and the fashion centres of Europe and sponsorship of the successful Formula 1 team by Williams characterised the company's activities in the 1990s. In 2008, Falke bought the Burlington brand. In 2012, Falke opened the new production facility in Serbia, where fine and knitwear is manufactured for the global fashion market. The Falke group employed over 3,300 people worldwide

Since 2005, Falke has presented itself as a full-range supplier of functional sportswear – with success: the Falke ESS collection was awarded the Runner's World ISPO Award in the category of Best Running Apparel. That was immediately followed by the Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany for Falke as the only textile company for the highly innovative Active Sports sports sweater. In 2015, Falke introduced the innovative Impulse Running Wear to the sportswear market.
