More than just an entry-level treadmill

Many treadmills in this price range are perfectly adequate for occasional jogging and long walks, but serious athletes will struggle to find a machine that provides a challenge. This is where the Kettler treadmill Alpha Run 400 comes in. With its powerful motor capable of moving a large belt for a 140 × 51-cm running surface with a continuous horsepower of 3 hp at speeds of up to 20 km/h, this treadmill serves a wider spectrum of potential users that includes avid runners demanding higher training intensities. At the same time, the Alpha Run 400 remains attractively affordable for those who can do without premium-class features and prices.

Strong motor and plenty of room for comfortable use

The brushless motor is quiet and offers excellent performance with reduced wear and minimal maintenance compared to carbon-brushed motors. The 51-cm wide running surface gives ample space to run safely at higher speeds. A cushioned 18-mm thick deck and 2.2-mm thick belt make the workout experience gentler on the user’s joints. Supporting it all is the Alpha Run 400’s sturdy frame designed for a maximum user weight of 150 kg.

Made for tempo runs, intense intervals and hill sections

Especially in terms of performance, the Kettler treadmill Alpha Run 400 knows how to play to its strong points. Speed and incline can be set either via quick-select keys on the control panel or using the wheel conveniently integrated into the handrails – ideal for intuitive adjustments without breaking one’s concentration at high speeds. Users can run at speeds up to 20 km/h or raise the incline to levels up to 15% to simulate hiking on mountain trails in their own home. All this makes the treadmill a great all-rounder for gradually ramping up the difficulty to improve fitness results.

Large console, simple operation

The 15.6″ LED console doesn’t rely on unnecessary gimmicks and simply provides a clear, easy-to-read layout of the relevant training data. The speed, time, distance, calories, heart rate, pace and incline are permanently displayed during the workout. A total of 34 programmes offer plenty of training variety: quickstart and 24 pre-installed programmes plus target-value countdowns for time, distance and calories, heart rate controlled and custom programmes. In the custom programmes, users can define their own training interval times and inclines.

Simulate outdoor experiences on your treadmill with Kinomap

Kinomap lets users follow virtual routes from around the world on their Alpha Run 400. Visit Times Square in New York City and then go for a hike in the Swiss Alps – the incline of the treadmill automatically adjusts to match the terrain in the video. Fitshop offers an exclusive option for a Lifetime license to Kinomap. A USB-C port and wireless charging area keep your phone battery from dying while you’re in the middle of an adventure on a desert island or episode X of your favourite series to binge-watch.

Solid treadmill specs at an affordable price

The Alpha Run 400 is an appealing choice for anyone looking to get into light walking and jogging and might get more serious about their training in the future. The motor performance, running surface, 20 km/h top speed, 15% incline and simple controls also make this machine a solid option for seasoned athletes who know they can live without premium features. After a workout, the running deck can fold upwards, and wheels let owners roll the treadmill to a storage area if space limitations are a concern. The combination of performance, comfort and convenience that the Alpha Run 400 delivers put it in a competitive position for its price class.
